Ahoy!
On Tuesday April 17, '07 at 1400 the Footing was poured.
On friday April 20, '07 the Footing forms were removed, the Bottom Plate installed, the trench back-filled, and the site swept, and cleared. It was a pleasure to behold a First Class job...and watertight too...which was expected.

Yes...the proof came the next day in the form of forecast showers during the night. The lightening flashed, the thunder boomed, the wind howled, and the "sea" boiled.

A sunny Sunday morning dawned revealing that the Nice Guys Corp Footing contained the tempest.

However, we feared not, as we prepared for such an event...we rented an ark from Good Guys Ark Rentals. A stroke of genius on our part.

Avast! We did however read in the Fine Print of the Ark Lease that "Forty-Day, and Forty-Nighters" weren't covered.

Drat!

On Tuesday April 24 '07 at 1300 the Inspector came and signed off on the Footing Plate. He seemed pleased, and left smiling.

If'n anyone is wondering how the enclosure was de-watered...there was about fifty gallons...it was shoveled out.
Forget about using a ShopVac unless disassembling, dumping, and re-assembling it fifty times sounds like fun, it isn't. I knew I should have saved some of those pumps I had on the boats I've owned. You can't win 'em all. Ha ha.

The weather since continues sunny, and pleasant.

A week has past since

We now await the Demo Guys to remove the overhangs.
Ouch!

Out of the blue...the furthest thing from our mind. Had just gotten Winston out of his harness after our morning walk when the door bell chimed. Standing outside the glass storm door stood a nice looking fellow. As I opened the door I asked: "From Nice Guys Corp I presume? "Yes." the fellow answered...continuing: "We've come to install the wall panels."
This isn't what I expected to hear. We were expecting the Demolition Guys to remove the over-hangs. I invited the fellow in and directed him to the back where the sunroom is to be built. I then showed him the overhangs, and asked if they should be removed before putting up the wall panels. He said it wasn't any problem...he'd just cut slots into the overhangs...the rest can be removed at any time.
Another nice fellow appeared and asked if we had the key to the trailer. We said we didn't...and that those locks were fairly substantial locks. He noted that they were, but didn't seem concerned. Both nice guys returned to the front of the house, and before long were placing lumber, compressor, and tools on the groundin the back. I thought I'd take a look-see for myself in the front of the house...the trailer was open...they just opened the lock with a grinder.
Having for months now wondered what was in the trailer, and seeing it so neatily stowed, I ran for my camera to document it. Upon return to the back, both Nice Guy Corp carpenters were busy constructing...and transferring wall panels to the back yard from the interior of the Mysterious Trailer.

This is very funny. Funny because I had really given up...finished thinking about it...permanently...nothing happens this fast...figured it would be a month before seeing anyone again.
Must be dreaming.

However, no...they were for real!
The wall panels were going up. Having mentioned that what you see as a floor is what the floor will be, and to please be careful not to damage it. Lo, and behold a tarp materialized from one of their vans, and the floor was covered.

Zip Zap...by 1500 they were gone. Asked the Lead Carpenter when they'd be back, and he said: "Don't know." I asked what they'd be doing then, and he said: "The Roof." "Great!" I said.
Said good-bye to the Carpenters, but just as they were leaving I asked: "When was it that you learned you would be working this job today?" The Lead Carpenter said that when he reported to Nice Guys Corp they told him to just wait outside the "conference room". That was around 0825. He had no longer closed the door behind him, when they called him back in and told him to come here...I had sent my email to Nice Guys Corp at 0820.

We believe the Carpenters will return tomorrow - Tuesday.
