The Pumper.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007 - 1240.

The Pumper Arrives.

Shortly after lunch the door bell rings. A tall fellow announces himself as the "Pumper".

Out of the blue...the furthest thing from my mind. Had just finished lunch. Yesterday was the "anxious" day...the CONtractor's Project Manager saying last Friday that on Monday to expect the CONcrete guy.

This is very funny. Funny because I had really given up...finished thinking about it...permanently, inspite of telling myself that on Sunday it had rained, and filled the footer trench, and they'd have that for another excuse.
Maybe it was...maybe they didn't show yesterday because of the Sunday rain.

However, they came...two guys with their "pumper" from Good Guys Concrete. They gave the forms, and trench a cursory inspection, commenting on the weeds, and trees taking root, and laughing about it.
They led out their hose, and as they were doing that the concrete truck came. Within minutes they were pumping concrete down into the "moat".

Zip Zap...by 1400 they were gone...everybody. Just before they left, one of them called their boss on his Cell Phone to report they were finished. Knowing their boss, I took the phone to thank him. He then told me he'd be here tomorrow afternoon to strip the forms, and inspect the job.

We believe the sub-contractor who pumped in the concrete for the footer today, will be here tomorrow - Wednesday afternoon, to strip the forms.
