Demolition And Construction!

Sabre Saw and Sledge Hammer/Measure and Fit.

Wednesday June 6, 2007 0910 Demo/Carpenters arrive.

Removal of overhangs/weather proofing openings into attic/lowering of Sunroom Door Sill to ground level.

Debris placed in trailer. Bye bye trailer.

Last evening for two hours plus Nice Guys Project Manager visits on invitation for discussion of everything.:

Started out with compliments on his photographing well...referring to his two TV interrogations. He laughed, then expounded on it, saying he was blind-sided by the interrogator, and the complaintant...attacked from two directions so to speak. Wasn't his best days.

We sat outside on the "pateo". Conversation came so fast I didn't get a chance to gather up my cigarettes, which were in the garage...had to watch him enjoy his smokes.
I lead the conversation taking us back to when we first met last november...I wanted to once, and for all explain to him the exact story pertaining to the "Phoney Temporary Permit". See Eye Ball With CONTRACTOR. If he didn't know then, he knew now, and was glad to get that ironed out.

The next two hours was spent discussing the Plans: Every nail; screw; bolt; piece of hardware like Stud Ties, and Hangers; and materials. He was surprised at how well I had memorized the Plans. I told him it was his fault, or the company's fault in taking so long in building; giving me all that time to memorize them. He laughed.

We then got into discussing Nice Guys Corp....their faults, and what to do to correct them. My suggestion for a running abstract using customer Permint Numbers, and showing target dates. An additional section explaining hang-ups like weather; materials; and personnel problems. He was very interested in that, and asked if he could bring his VP, and P.A. Officer around to hear this. I thought it was a good idea.

He looked worn out...tired. A man in his forties, but wrung out. I could understand considering the press they had been getting lately. He left just as it was getting dark...I walked him out to his large, new, crew cab company truck. He seemed anxious to get home, but also to get back to me the next day. He said to expect the "Demo", and Construction ( carpenters ) guys in the morning. First to remove the two overhangs, then lower the footer in way of the door for the sunroom; and to close in the attic.

With the overhangs gone, you can see into the "attic", or at least see the rafters.

Same here...above is a view looking North.

Above is a close in view of the NW corner of the construction with salvaged rafter timbers used as fillers. The door leads into a bath room.

Above is a view towards the NE showing the enclosing work complete with sealant, and a small Drip Strip. Until the roof for the job is finished, this should keep bugs; critters; and rain out.

On suggestion from the Project Manager during yesterday evening's talk, the door portal to the job was lowered. A sledgehammer job by one of the workers as you can see. We don't expect super-smart people doing this kind of work, so we're not surprised when we see this. The fellow was a pleasant guy...but just not too delicate. He said it will look nice when he frames it out, and pours in new concrete. We shall see.

They left around three o'clock, after removing the debris left over to the trailer, and sweeping up...a good job. They had arrived in the morning at 0910...worked until 1115, when they went for lunch, and new saw blade...returning around 1315. It poured heavily for about an hour, or two after they left. The only evidence of rain water was in the bathroom...that door is old, and has never been exposed to the eliments directly. When the jobs' complete, it will once again be an "inside" door.

Will they show tomorrow? They promised nothing, though the Project Manager hinted they may...it depended on the weather he said.

See What Happens
